Who we are
Avenlo (“we”, “us”) is an independent website design studio based in New York, United States. For questions about this website or your information, write to avelno.studio@gmail.com.
This policy covers this website and the enquiries sent through it. When we agree a project with you, the written scope for that project may set out further details about the information we handle on your behalf.
The short version
- We only collect what you choose to send us, plus the basic technical information every website receives.
- We use it to reply to you and to do the work you ask for.
- We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or track you across other websites.
- We do not use analytics or advertising cookies. Our hosting infrastructure may use a short-lived security cookie to distinguish visitors from automated abuse.
What we collect
What you send us
The enquiry form prepares a message locally in your email application. We receive your name, business details, reply address, selected scope and message only if you choose to send that email. Preparing the draft does not submit anything to this website. If you email or call us directly, we receive whatever you include there.
What every website receives
When your browser loads a page, the servers involved receive technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. This happens with our web host, OpenAI Sites, using Cloudflare hosting infrastructure, which may keep short-lived server logs for security and reliability.
Everything on this site, including its typefaces and photographs, is served from our own web host. Your browser does not contact any other company to show these pages.
What stays in your browser
On the home page you can type a shop name to see it on the sign and in the demonstration. That name is kept in your browser’s session storage so it carries over between pages. It normally clears when the session ends, although browsers may restore sessions. It is not transmitted by the demonstration. If you include it in an enquiry email, we receive it with that email. See the Cookie Policy for details.
What we do not collect
We do not use analytics, advertising or social media tracking, and we do not buy information about you from anyone else.
How we use it
- To reply to your enquiry, answer your questions and prepare a written scope and quote.
- To carry out work you have agreed to, and to keep the records that go with it, such as the agreed scope, invoices and correspondence.
- To keep this website secure and working.
- To meet legal obligations, for example tax and accounting record-keeping.
We will not add you to a mailing list or send you marketing unless you ask us to.
If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, the legal bases we rely on are: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and performing that contract; our legitimate interest in running and protecting this website and replying to messages; and complying with our legal obligations.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry correspondence while reasonably needed to answer it, discuss a potential project or resolve related questions. We review retained correspondence and remove it when no longer needed, subject to legal obligations. Project and tax records are retained for the periods required by law. Our host manages technical logs under its own retention policies.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete your information, unless we have to keep it by law;
- stop using it, or limit how we use it, where you have the right to object;
- send it to you, or to someone else, in a common format.
Write to avelno.studio@gmail.com. We respond within the periods required by applicable law, generally one month under the GDPR. Any permitted extension will be explained within that initial period. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request. We will not treat you differently for using any of these rights.
In the UK or EEA, you may also complain to your data protection authority; in the UK that is the Information Commissioner’s Office. In US states with privacy laws, such as California, rights may include access, deletion, correction and opting out of sale or sharing, where the relevant law applies to the business and request. We do not sell or share it, so there is nothing to opt out of, but you can still contact us about any of these rights.
Other safeguards
Children. This website is for business owners and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
International transfers. Our service providers may process information in other countries. We operate from New York, United States. Before transferring personal information where a transfer mechanism is required, we must identify and put in place an applicable mechanism and provide details on request. We do not claim that using a provider alone establishes a lawful transfer.
Security. We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold, and limit it to what we need. No website or email system is completely secure, so please do not send passwords, payment card details or other sensitive information through the form.
Other websites. Links to other websites, including the sources credited for our photographs, lead to sites with their own privacy practices.
Changes and contact
If we change how we handle information, for example by adding analytics, we will update this page and its date before the change takes effect, and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
